with Ana & Alberto

Come and enjoy an amazing Weekend all about Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz with two amazing Teachers Ana Maeso & Alberto Meucci!

Date:
13.06. – 15.06.2025

Ana Maeso
Ana is a guest in afro american dance culture: social dancer & teacher from Granada (Spain) currently residing in Berlin, where she is the founder of Rayuela Swing, the school where she teaches and organises events.
Her classes focus on communal sharing- learning by trying with more dancing than explanations taking place. In her classes she strives to create an environment where partnered and solo dance can feel like an exploration rather than mechanical repetition of patterns. Her space in the classroom is dictated by her belief that by approaching the dance with humility and respect, we can honour its legacy and share its beauty with others in a meaningful and authentic way.

Alberto Meucci
Alberto discovered Lindy Hop in 2015 and it was love from the very first dance.
He sees inspiration in every Lindy Hopper – regardless of whether it is his teacher or student – each meeting on the dance floor brings something new. Dancing gives him energy and a curiosity to always learn more about the history of the dance. His pockets are full of rhythmic variations and …jokes. He comes from picturesque Genoa in Italy, while currently he lives and teaches in Warsaw.

Ana & Alberto
Ana and Alberto met and hit it off on the social dance floor, where they quickly realised they connected in and out of it.  They keep their classes fun, welcoming and challenging, aiming to create thoughtful conversation with those who take their class, both in the dance material and discussions they prompt towards the classroom.

There will be:
3 h – Lindy Hop / Curious

3 h – Lindy Hop / Ambitious

3 h – Lindy Hop / Confident

3 h –Solo Jazz (Open Level)

*Important Note:
We designed the levels together with the teachers in a way, that it is possible to combine either Lindy Hop Curious and Ambitious or
Lindy Hop Ambitious and Confident. This should allow challenge for the ones, who are searching for that. You can also combine Lindy Hop Levels and Solo Jazz or only go for Solo Jazz!

Level descriptions:

Experience in terms of time is not always a good indicative of which level you should join, so please be authentic about your easiness with the requirements asked: when listing a step in a class level description, we expect students to not only know of it, but to be comfortable enough with it that it can be built on.

Curious
You’re starting to get into the dance and have taken local classes and have gone to socials. When going to socials, you feel you have vocabulary but are not yet comfortable with being creative or improvising, and want to work on that.
Required to join: comfortableness with swing outs, circles, tandem, hand to hand, break aways, change places, tuck turns, promenades, slingshots

Ambitious
You have taken local classes and festival classes and are comfortable improvising in social dance settings, feel like you have a nice vocabulary and want to be challenged in your dancing and work on improvisation. This level will challenge you through material and it’s expected you feel comfortable with the following:

Moderate experience in social dancing, comfortableness with swing outs, swing out variations, circles, tandem, hand to hand, promenades, slingshots, texas tommy, break aways, change places, tuck turns, sugar pushes, and some footwork variations.

Confident
This level is directed at people who will have a grasp with both Lindy hop and solo vocabulary and are ok with the pace of classes to be demanding. We expect you to be comfortable with the following:

vast experience in social dancing, broad step vocabulary, easiness with rhythmical variations and comfortableness with swing outs, swing out variations, circles, tandem, hand to hand, break aways, change places, tuck turns, sugar pushes, diverse footwork variations, and solo jazz steps.

*The Confident level is the highest level we can offer in Innsbruck, it is internationally seen as Intermediate/Advanced.
We as organizers will take the liberty to confirm individual applications for this level, if we do not know you we might ask you for a video. Thank you for understanding.

Solo Open
This level is for everyone. If you don’t have any solo vocabulary, you are welcome to join as long as you accept the notion of not starting from 0! The classes are built so that everyone can get something out of it, and it’s expected that you will take it upon yourselves to work with what you can focus on in the material (ex: people who don’t know the steps beforehand in learning them, people who do in varianting them, etc).

In this level we will dance alone and will jam together to work on solo movement, rhythm and improvisation. The teachers and students are expected to help the dynamic of the group and be present in the space to acknowledge the necessity of social dancing in authentic jazz
